Joyce Marie Fitchett was born April 21, 1943 in Milton-Freewater, Oregon to Hubert and Esther Richwine. She entered Heaven on the morning of February 6, 2018 at the age of 74, in Sexsmith, Alberta.
She was the cherished mother of Del Fitchett (Diana), Jodee Balisky (James), Kendal Fitchett (Lindsay) and loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, George Fitchett, parents Hubert and Esther Richwine, brother Verne Richwine and sister Carol Kuhn.
Raised in Milton-Freewater, Oregon, she graduated from McLoughlin High in 1961 and furthered her education at Multnomah School of the Bible. She took a lifeguarding position at a summer camp in Northern Washington where she met George Fitchett. They were married in 1964.
She was faithful to God as He called her and George to in full-time ministry with United Indian Mission for over 50 years; 43 of those at Rock Next Ranch in Houston, BC.
Faithfull is a word that defined her life and was the theme of her life in many ways. She was thoughtful, wise in her advice and decisions, genuine in her words, a listening ear and confidante; she cared deeply for people and was a loyal friend.
Joyce found great joy in spending time outside. Most days included a walk through the woods. She was especially tickled if that walk included exploring, discovering or learning something new. She was ever curious about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the life of the church and Heaven. She wonders no more.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 24th at 11 am at Rock Next Ranch in Houston, BC with a luncheon following.
Memorial donations may be sent to Rock Nest Ranch.
