Our Community Comes First
It all starts with community
We are proud to support the volunteers, organizations, and initiatives the improve our community. Our team is truly passionate about helping others in any way we can.
We give where we can, and that includes providing affordable space to not-for-profit organizations. Interested in hosting your not-for-profit event in our hall?
Good Grief Community
The death of someone we care about can be one of the most difficult experiences of life. Words seem inadequate to describe how painful the grief we feel can be. It is often much more challenging than we expect and than others seem to think. GOOD GRIEF COMMUNITY meets weekly in Grande Prairie if you’d like to have coffee with others who have walked the path of grief.
Good Grief Community Garden
In 2021, we unveiled Good Grief Community Garden. The garden is a place where individuals and families can come to remember their loved ones and plant a tree or perennial in their memory. Many Good Grief Community members have painted memorial stones to place throughout the garden. Click on the following links to read about the unveiling:

Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls
May 30, 2019
Bear Creek Funeral Home and Edmonton Granite Memorials have donated a commemorative tree plaque paying tribute to the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls 2+.
This tree will become a special place for those affected by the loss of a sister, and we are honoured to be part of such an important event. Thank you to everyone involved in this project.
Each year, Bear Creek Funeral Staff work alongside communities around the Peace as they dedicate time to maintaining their cemeteries. With specialized equipment, they are able to straighten monuments that have shifted and fallen over the years.
From the Community
Thank you to the handful of volunteers who helped at the Hythe cemetery clean up today and to those families who had already done some graves. Also to Bear Creek Funeral Home for sending out a crew to level headstones. Special thanks to Deb Balderston for organizing and always keeping us in line with grant applications, etc and to Bill Guise for the endless hours he spends mowing at the cemetery. Keep your eyes open for another cleanup in June as the grass never stops at this time of year. Remember many hands make light work!!
Thank you so very much for attending our cleanup day at the Hythe Cemetery. We appreciate you assisting with leveling headstones. How you give back to the community is wonderful!

ART GALLERY OF GRANDE PRAIRIE
The Gallery proudly installed this piece from The Permanent Collection, Barry Hodgson’s ‘Arbutus’ at the Bear Creek Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. The Funeral Home was a proud sponsor of the last exhibition, ‘The Rich Interior Life’, and so is the latest participant in the Gallery’s Temporary Art Loan Program which places major Collection pieces in the community.
NORTHERN SPIRIT LIGHTSHOW
Kolton, Heather, Hannah, and Jen spent some time at the Northern Spirit Light Show handing out hot chocolate, apple cider, and accepting donations for the Peace Draft Horse Association.
