Obituary For Alice Eileen Ames

April 18, 1936 – September 5, 2021

Alice (Allie) Eileen Ames was born in Glen Leslie on April 18, 1936 and passed away suddenly at the QEII Hospital on September 5, 2021 at the age of 85

Allie was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Irving (Tyke) Ames, her parents Alfred & Inga Olson, siblings Edna Flohr, Elsie Ray, Violet Griffiths, Gordon Olson, Angie Waldner, & Don Olson, her first grandchild Troy Perkins & son in law Kimmie White.

Allie leaves to grieve her four daughters - Louise Ames, Bev Steinke, Irene Stark & Colleen Heavener, her son in laws Wade Steinke, Dale Stark & Bill Heavener, grandchildren Lea (Marcel) Allain, Kim Perkins, Denay (Clint) Webb, Marla Steinke, Lana (Tyler) Siebert, Lacey (Ryan) McAleney, Tanner (Leslie) Stark and greatgrand children Rebecca, Marcel, Luke & Lexi, Taylor & Rayden, Sarah & Rachel, Reagan & Jayla, Bruce & Ali, Tyke & Landon, one great grand child Grayson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Allie spent her life creating and loving and stable home for Tyke & her girls. She was an adept seamstress, creating numerous wedding dresses throughout the years and dresses, coats and clothes for the girls. She was extremely gifted in such a wide range of things, crochet, baking, needlepoint, moose hair tufting, and gardening to name only a few. Her favorite thing in the world was dancing with Tyke.

Allie’s giving, kindness and loving nature will be so sadly missed by all who knew her, but especially by her family.

She undoubtedly is truly in “heaven”, dancing the “old time waltz” for eternity, with Tyke, whom she has missed, so much, for the last seven years.

At her request, there will be no funeral or memorial.

I had just asked about her the other day. Since I was a girl I always thought the Ames hedge was so cool. Last time I was there with my Dad I had a photo taken beside it covered in snow. I remember grandpa Tom.and I breaking grandma Very (Ames) out of her old folks home to go to Besanson for dinner and drive around. She wanted to go see Tyke, so we took her there. That was the last time I saw Tyke and Ali. Ali was always so sweet to me. May she rest in peace. Condolences to her family. Sandi McEwen

This was such a shock and such sad news. Our hearts are filled with sorrow and we send our deepest condolences to all the family. The yard, the Ames hedge on the front lawn that has been tended by Allie and Tyke, and then later by Allie herself, the two- storey family house, it all seems so lonely when passing by now. Allie will be missed, but the legacy and memories created in that home that Tyke and Allie made, and where they raised their family, where many of us had sleepovers as youngsters, these memories can never be erased... R.I.P. Allie dancing in the arms of your forever sweetheart once again!
