Obituary For Betty Lorraine Gaudin

January 23, 1933 – December 27, 2022“When I come to the end of the roadAnd the sun has set for me,I want no tears or gloom-filled roomWhy cry for a soul set free?Miss me a little – but not too long,And not with your head bowed lowRemember the love we all shared,Miss me but let me go…” Christina RosettiBetty Gaudin, long-time resident of Beaverlodge, passed away on December 27, 2022, in the Grande Prairie Hospital at the age of 89. Betty was born January 23, 1933, in Halcourt to Russell and Agnes Walker. She married the love of her life, Jack Gaudin on June 30, 1953, and settled in Beaverlodge. Betty had a lifelong passion for travel, sports, pioneer history, art, and literature, which she enjoyed with her dear friends and family. Her proud sense of community spirit often found her volunteering her time with many organizations including the Beaverlodge Art and Culture Center, the Euphemia McNaught Society, St. Luke’s Anglican Church, and offering her support with the building of the Town of Beaverlodge Recreational Facility. She is predeceased by her husband Jack, and her siblings Annie, Irene, Alvin, Lillie, and Mona. She is survived by her sisters: Ruby Mitchell and Shirley and Bill Lamb, her children: Jackie and Mario Morissette, Erin and Ken Martin, Griff and Heather Gaudin, and Lorraine and Bryon Abbott; her grandchildren: Adam Morissette, Connor and Dawn Martin, Mychal Martin and Christian Pfeiffer, Ty Gaudin and Melanie Marcoux, Caitlyn and Jeremy Kral, Meagan and Jeff Sheehan, Zachary Abbott, and Spencer and Casey Abbott; her great-grandchildren: William, Makenna, and Jaydon Martin, and Caleb and Deakon Abbott, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses, and staff at Pearson Place, the Beaverlodge and Grande Prairie hospitals, and Emergency Medical Services. There will be a celebration of life for Betty in the spring. In lieu of flowers, for friends so wishing, donations can be made to the West County Health Facility Fund to support a new Beaverlodge hospital. “Go Jays Go!”Care entrusted to Bear Creek Funeral Home 780 830 7742 bearcreekfuneral.com

Jackie, Erin, Griff and Lorraine ... Thinking of you all as I've just learned of your mums passing. What a woman: Horses. Crocuses. Dirt bikes. Patience. Laughter. Adding machines. Meetings. Treats. She was so good to Jim and I when we were little. We loved to visit the farm and never knew what a day with Betty might bring. She was a really lovely woman and taught me a lot by what she didn't say and even more by all she did do. My sincere condolences to each of you and your families. Katherine (Young) Hann

Dear Gaudin family- Betty was a beautiful, kind, and open hearted lady- I loved and admired her for herself, first, as such a very special human, and then her great community building qualities and positivity. She has carried forward the powerful DNA of the visionary pioneers who created Beaverlodge. Her spirit will live on forever, and will soften the grief of loss: memories of Betty surround each of you everywhere in BL you may be. With deepest sympathy. Kathleen Julien (Nychka)

Jackie,Erin, Griff,Lorraine and families Your mom was a wonderful woman to me and a great role model. At first I was very intimidated by your mom, I thought she was a member of the high society of Beaverlodge! It didn't take me long to figure out she was the most kind hearted, sweet, warm person I ever met. She was always so easy to visit with. A very classy lady and I will miss her. "May time ease your pain and memories heal your heart" Sending our deepest condolences, Jackie and Rick Wallan
