Obituary For Carlita Ochate Engcong

Nanay Carlita Ochate Engcong passed peacefully in the loving presence of her family in Grande Prairie, Alberta. She lived to the age of 83 and was married to her husband Tatay Maximo L. Engcong for 59 years. Nanay Carlita enjoyed spending time with her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren, while also (playfully) bickering with Tatay Maximo. She was the matriarchy and beauty queen of our family. She loved shopping, going out and getting her hair, nails and makeup done. Nanay also loved spending time outside in the sun, whether it be watching her grandchildren or gardening in the yard. She was a people person, and everyone that knew her loved and adored her dearly.

Carlita is survived by her loving husband Maximo L. Engcong; her children Manuel and Pilar, Arlene and Oscar, Gemma and Glenn, Marites and Armando, Annie and Oliver; grand children Mirla & Jingkie, Stephen Brian & Emmalyn, April & Michael, Nikka, Manuel James, Mary Faith & Blaine, Paul John, Mariefaith-Ann & Ben, Jessica-Anne, Joseph Francis, Glenn Michael, Mia-Franz, Marc-Aidan, Meagan-Joy, Aaleyah-Mae, Cyrone Dream, Cedric-Lee, Cadence-Oliver, Carter-Zen, Jet-Lincoln; great grand children Ayah-Grace, Stephen-Jimir, Princess, Ethan, Luke Michael, Claude.
Relatives Gloria Onod Ries (Long-time Grande Prairie Resident and Best Friend), Lilibeth and Allan, Christine & Miguel, Michael, Kirstine, Lea & Angelo, Angelo Ross; Rose and Dave, David Taylor, Savina Rose; Rose and Jomel; George and Janna, Samuel, Lemuel.

Carlita is predeceased by her children Alma Ochate Engcong, Juan Maria Ochate Engcong; parents Guardalope Uba Ochate and Vidal Tabuan Ochate; siblings Felicedad Ochate, Salvadora Salas Ochate, Victorina Ontong Ochate, Florencia Badajos Ochate, Toefista Ochate, Amado Ochate, Toefilo Ochate; relatives Jame Mark Odchimar Engcong, Stephen Brian Odchimar Engcong.

A viewing will take place on Friday November 12 from 6pm to 9pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home 11802 99 Ave. Due to Covid restrictions 50 people are allowed to attend at a time, please call 780-830-7742 to book the time you will come. Live stream for the viewing is just below.

Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday November 13, 2021 at 2pm at St. Joseph Catholic Parish 10404 102 St, Grande Prairie. Interment to follow at the Grande Prairie Cemetery. Due to Covid restrctions the funeral is limited to 50 persons. For those of you unable to attend in person the service can be viewed by clicking the link below.

  • Nanay, you will be missed. We love you so dearly, nay. The last time you called , you just want to see how Luke is. I never thought that would be our last conversation. I was not able to take picture or screen cap our videocall for luke to see as memory. I was really hopung that after this world's current situation, we will be seeing you here,having your vacation. 😭😭😭😭 Rest in Paradise nanay! I love you!
