*** Updated information for Christine

Christine Kehler passed away on November 19, 2022, surrounded by her children and her loving husband. The family asks you to join them in a Celebration of Life for Christine on Saturday, April 1st at Eureka River Hall at 1pm.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Christine L. (Kehler)Fallis who passed away November 19/2022 surrounded by her children and loving husband. Christine will be sorely missed by all who were lucky enough to have known her; an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt and lastly, a dear friend.

Christine was a spitfire to say the least. She will always be remembered for her quick crass, hard work and generosity. She was born on January 14,1960 in Fairview Alberta to Christian Kehler and Magdeline (Koch) Kehler. Christine’s family was not small, the sixties were not easy and so they grew up hard and they grew up tough in a 1 room house in little ole Hines Creek Alberta.

Christine raised 4 kids and a few others along the way; she had a love for strays...cats, dogs and people. She loved her family and worked hard to provide for them. Without running water, she would have to wash all their clothes by hand, chop wood and pack in water. You would never have known the struggles though because she just kept going, not looking back, smoking a cigarette and reading her favorite books (Clan of the Cave Bear). She knew what it took in life to get by but one thing she didn’t do was take anyone’s crap, she was known for speaking her mind a trait seen among her kids and grandkids.

Christine hunted and trapped, skinned and wrapped her own meat, gardened, canned everything pickles, jams, jellies and even meat (it was the best). One summer the kids wanted bikes so Christine helped them pick $1000 worth of bottles. She is remembered as being a very resourceful mother working many jobs cooking in the restaurant, babysitting, cleaning landfill sites and even skinning and stretching beaver hides for cash.

Christine and her husband met around 2006 in Hines creek Alberta at the cafe where she was working. They were inseparable and had many adventures together before they were married on June 14th 2014 in Spirit River Alberta where Christine shocked everyone and wore her pajamas down the aisle. They purchased their own home together there and started to enjoy the later years of life. They still had many dreams for the future when her life was suddenly cut short, and it will always be a sadness that they didn’t get to go on together the way their plans had intended. Christine enjoyed becoming a grandma and great-grandma and was always looking forward to the next visit, spoiling them and filling their pockets with chocolate bars, candy or change like it was a big secret giggling.

Christine leaves behind her cat (Ursula) and husband Allie who will always miss her; along with her sisters Audrey and Elsie and brothers George and Albert. She also leaves behind Rick, Amanda, Charity, Carrie-Ann and Shayna. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was predeceased by both parents and her brother Wally and her son in-law James and nephews Dougie and Robbie.

A memorial for Christine will take place this April 1,2023 at the Eureka River Hall at 1 pm. There will be a lunch and refreshments. If you wish to bring anything you may and any donations to please be made to an animal rescue in Christine’s name or for flowers for her urn.
