Obituary For Cora Regna Hoover (nee Phillips)

In Loving Memory
June 3, 1934 – October 2, 2021

Cora, a resident of Lakeview Lodge, Clairmont, Alberta, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021, in Grande Prairie at the age of 87 years.

Cora was born on June 3, 1934, in Vermillion, Alberta to her parents Harry & Selena Phillips. Her youthful years were spent in the Ferguson Flats near Elk Point. In 1949 she moved to Worsley area with her family where she met Robert Hoover and they married on June 6, 1951, and were blessed with 7 children.
Ellen 1952, Wesley 1954, Darlene 1955, Beverly & Brian 1957, Brenda 1968, and Karrie 1971.

Through the years Cora has lived in many different places such as Worsley, Grande Prairie, Fairview, Innisfail, Camrose, Sexsmith and Clairmont. Over the years she has worked at many different occupations such as farming, housewife, mother, store clerk, camp cook, kitchen help at the hospital and various others.

Cora loved spending time painting and gifting her children and family with her paintings. She also enjoyed quilting, cross stitch, sewing, knitting good friends, working with her flowers and family gatherings. She was always willing to help her children whenever possible, if by nothing else but a helpful phone call.

Cora will be sadly missed by her children; Darlene (Ken Hessler), Beverly Calder (Don), Brian (Susan) Meggitt, Brenda Krahn (Donovan Appleby), Karrie (Barry Buchanan); her sisters Marge Wasylciw, Myrtle Satre, Eunice Lyttle, and brothers Russell and Theodore as well as 20 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren and many more family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Harry & Selena Phillips, sisters Leona Sherburne, Opal Paradowski, brothers Ralph, Melven, Rufus and Otis; her ex-husband Robert Hoover and children Ellen Sherman and Wesley, and one grandchild, Jodi.

A Celebration of Cora’s Life will be held in the summer of 2022 and will be announced at a later date.
