Obituary For David William Malvis

January 1, 1954 – September 8, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce that on September 8, 2023, David William Malvis died suddenly at Grande Prairie Regional Hospital in Alberta.

He was born January 1, 1954, to the late William Malvis and Denise Doucett in Kapuskasing, Ontario. He was the lifelong friend and husband to Carol Malvis (nee: Laven), the beloved father of Erin (Mike) Lambright of Grande Prairie and Christopher Malvis of Burnaby, the proud Pépère of Oliver and Hudson Lambright and the brother of Carol (John) Bartosik of Barrie, Louise Pranger, Jacquie (Steve) Fazzari, Raymond Jansen of Guelph and the late Timothy Jansen. He cherished his time with his siblings and their children, nieces: Angelaina, Kristin, Katelyn, Julia, and Nichole. David had a profound connection with John (JJ) Jansen, whom he lovingly referred to as Pops, as John played a significant role in shaping him as a man.

Dave would become a skilled home builder and carpenter known for his attention to detail as well as a bush pilot in the DHC-2 Beaver. David was talented at and enjoyed being immersed in his work. A loyal and devoted friend to many but with an especially strong friendship in Robert and Lorna Harder of Grande Prairie. He was a tremendous man that will be dearly missed.

In the words of Dave; “It’s a beautiful thing!”. A Celebration of his Life will be held in the Poplar Room at The Pomeroy Inn between 7 and 9 PM, September 17, 2023, where the family invites anyone to share their memories of Dave.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made toward Muscular Dystrophy Canada on behalf of Oliver.

Care is entrusted to Bear Creek Funeral Home 780 830 7742 bcfh.ca

I would like to extend my sincerest condolences to Dave's family over his passing. I met Dave shortly after he moved to Grande Prairie and we quickly became friends. Not only was Dave a skilled carpenter, but he was skilled in other practical areas and was willing to offer a helping hand when in need. Dave was a good friend and will be missed by myself and many others. Dick Poon

As a cousin who was born the same year, Dave always seemed a big brother to me. Us cousins would have many a fun time romping in the forest at the end of Watet Street. Big guy with a big personality. You will be missed. Hugs to all of Dave's family. Love Diane.
