Obituary For Denise Eileen Hudak

It’s with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Denise Eileen Hudak. She passed peacefully in the care of the Prairie Lake Hospice with her loving husband of 36 years by her side on March 29, 2022.

Denise grew up in Elmworth on her parents' farm. In Denise’s younger years she enjoyed nature, cross country skiing & basketball. One of her favourite past times was playing cards with her Great Grannie. After completing her teaching degree at the University of Lethbridge, her and Darrell moved to Inuvik where their oldest son was born. Once they moved back to Wembley, they had their second son, and she began teaching at Wembley Elementary. She touched the hearts of many students throughout her 26 years of teaching.

Denise found joy spending her time outdoors, camping, kayaking, Gardening, and watching the crocuses bloom in spring. The best part of her days were spent surrounded by her family. Her children and grandchildren often spent the evenings or weekends playing a game of cards or marbles (usually getting their butts kicked) out at the acreage.

She was able to check off so many things on her bucket-list over the last 8 years bringing a smile to all her families faces. Denise will be missed by more than just her family. Her impact on the community will never be forgotten.

Denise was survived by her loving Husband, Darrell Hudak, her two children and 5 grandchildren, Colin Hudak (Chantel, Ava and Jace), Neil Hudak (Kolby, Ethan, Anthony and Scarlett). Her parents, Charlie and Joan White. Her sister and brother, Janeen (Lauriee, Brittney, Baliee, Nicole, Denton) and Steven (Loraine, Ashley, Brad and Lisa)

She was pre-deceased by her great Grannie White, Grandma and Grandpa Stoll.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 9th, 2022 at 11am at Bear Creek Funeral Home (11802 99 Avenue, Grande Prairie, Alberta) with a refreshment to follow. Interment to follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Denise and family would be honoured to have you donate to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada (braintumour.ca)

My deepest sympathies to you and your boys and grandchildren, Darrell ❤️ Denise always amazed me with her positive attitude toward any challenge she faced and her strong desire to carry-on, no matter what! Her gentle and kind ways with every little person who evolved through her classroom door warmed my heart. Each child was richer and more confident because of her ❤️ Denise's love and pride for her husband, her boys and her grandchildren was so evident and her face lit up just to be given the chance to talk about them ❤️ You are all going to miss her so much. Heaven has received one of the best ❤️ My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this most difficult time 🙏🏻

I am so so sorry to read of the sad loss of Denise. A huge hole in all your lives. I "knew" Denise in the 1980s as a family pen pal. I asked my great auntie Beattie (White) if there was anyone on the Canadian family tree who would like to write to me. Denise said yes. A tape cassette travelled to and fro across the miles as well as letters. She sent me some amazing family photos of her Grandparents, my great aunt and uncle on their golden wedding party also her wedding day. We lost touch after this as well life, career and children took over. I can't remember what we talked about but I just loved our conversations and words. I know she had been very poorly a few years ago but so sad to read of your tragedy. I send my best wishes and love to the family at this very sad time. I remember fondly our connection across the miles. Best wishes to you all. Barbara Pownall and family. Xxx

I am so sorry for your loss. Denise was such an awesome teacher. I used to love assisting in her class as the School Counsellor / Special Ed Teacher. I wanted to be one of her students! She loved her two little boys over the moon and back and why not! They were the cutest. So different and unique. I worked with Denise a long time ago although I remember her well. A bright, bright spirit. Darrel and family I am so sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Beth Zazula
