Obituary For Edward (Eddie) Joseph Tomshak

28/06/1931 - 26/02/2023

Edward (Eddie) Joseph Tomshak passed away at his residence in Hythe AB at the age of 91 years after a series of health issues in the last few years.

Eddie was born in Clairmont of his mother Nelly Kozina and father Joseph Tomshak. He was baptized at St. Joseph’s Parish in Grande Prairie shortly thereafter. He attended school in Clairmont and at St. Joseph’s in Grande Prairie.
Eddie and Dorothy (Dot) Jean Switzer were married on November 11, 1954, at St Joseph’s Church in Grande Prairie.

Eddie was pre-deceased by: father Joseph Tomshak; mother Nelly Kozina; mom Agnes Tomshak; brothers Frank; Tony; Joe; Albert; sisters Jenny Croken; Mary Russell; sons Paul; Randy; daughters Audrey; and Teresa.

Eddie leaves to mourn his passing: his sister Helen Fitzpatrick; Grandchildren Amanda Erno; Tara Dolen; Daylan Tomshak; Shayne Tomshak; Bradley Dunbar; Jarrett Tomshak; Travis Tomshak; great-grandchildren Claire Erno; Tyson Erno; and Kaleb Tomshak., and also Many friends, and family.

Eddie loved: farming; hunting; trapping; flying his own ultralight aircraft; woodworking; repairing machinery; working with fiberglass. In the last dozen or so years he spent countless hours maintaining and generally fussing with his beloved 1976 Ford F250 Ranger Camper Special truck. His camper is set up out in the woods near Wembley and he spent many happy days/years there enjoying the great outdoors.
Eddie was a long-term resident of the Hythe Pioneer Home and has many friends and acquaintances there, and it is there where he was very well cared for.

A mass in honor of Eddie is being planned at the St. Edmonds Roman Catholic church in Hythe at 1pm, March 18.

The Bear Creek Funeral Home and Crematorium 11802 99 Avenue, Grande Prairie has been entrusted with cremation.

Eddie’s final resting place will be at the Hythe cemetery, later this summer.
