Obituary For Gregory "Greg" David Cox

January 21, 1962 – April 14, 2023

It is with broken hearts we announce that Greg Cox, resident of Grande Cache, has passed away on April 14th, 2023, at the age of 61.

Well-known and respected within his professional community, Greg worked in human resources for over 30 years. These years included experience within the forest products and mining industries across Canada. He was an adventurous man to say the least. Always up for hikes, fishing, road trips and more. His life was rich with experience and achievements. He worked his way to a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, winning many medals and trophies through various tournaments. During the 90’s, he held a position in the Grande Cache chamber of Commerce and was involved in the current tourism center coming to fruition. He even ran and finished a marathon at the age of 59. He never seemed afraid of much. Climbing rocks in the mountains, photographing wildlife, kayaking, or exploring a trail, always with a huge smile on his face. The word “can’t” certainly was not in his vocabulary, and the stories we are all left with are packed with adventure, smiles, and laughter.

Greg will be sadly missed by his daughter, Shannon (Ken) Walters and son, David (Nicole) Cox; grandchildren Avery Walters, Johnny Arnett, and Lilly Cox. He will also be greatly missed by his siblings; brothers Larry Cox, Don Cox, Brian Cox, and Mike Cox; sisters Darlene Scott and Shirley Boettcher, and his Stepfather Jim Kimberley.

He was predeceased by both his Father, Donald Cox, and Mother, Bonita Kimberly.

Memorial donations in honor of Greg and in lieu of a service can be made to The Stollery Children’s Hospital, 800 College Plaza, 8215 - 112 Street, Edmonton, AB T6G 2C8.
