Obituary For Judy May Mazga

March 26, 1955 – October 31, 2023

Judy passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Judy was born and raised in La Glace and met the love of her life, Ed in 1977 and together they raised two independent daughters. Their early life consisted of camping, canoeing and endless days spent at their children’s many sporting events, swimming, baseball, dancing, etc. In addition to her children’s many sporting activities, Mom also enjoyed many sports of her own, broomball and baseball were her absolute favourites. Her love of the Blue Jays was beyond measure, and she was excited to watch them play in Toronto in 2022.

When Ed and Judy became empty nesters, their love for international travel developed. They were very fortunate to have daughters and sons-in-law that loved to take them to new places. Some of her favourites included China, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Aruba, Honduras, Cuba, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Fiji. In the last year of her life, she was lucky enough to complete her bucket list with a final trip to the East Coast.

Judy was outgoing, positive, and strong right until the very end. These are the attributes we wish to carry on in her legacy. She developed many friendships that endure still today.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Ed, daughters Brandi (Rory Schiestel), and Nicole (Zandy Marcus), a sister Marlene (Orville Probst), brothers Kerry (Vivian) Sandboe and Darcy (Joanne) Sandboe. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Judy was predeceased by her mother and father Helen and Raymond Sandboe.

A Celebration of Life for Judy will be held on Friday, November 10th at 2pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home 11802 99 Avenue Grande Prairie.

Donations in memory of Judy can be made to the Grande Prairie Hospital Foundation for the Grande Prairie Cancer Clinic. 10409 98 Street Grande Prairie AB T8V 2E8.
