Obituary For Leslie Evelyn Scantland

March 17, 1947 – January 31, 2023

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend Leslie Scantland on January 31, 2023 at the GPRH at the age of 75. She passed peacefully with her family by her side.

Although she has passed, her strength, love of life and laughter will continue living through all of us. She married the love of her life Roger in 1966 and together they started a family that would grow to include grandchildren, great grandchildren and a world of friends creating memories to last a lifetime.

Leslie was a very caring and loving woman who, throughout her lifetime devoted herself to her faith, her family and friends. She had a special place in her heart for those less fortunate and the many four legged friends she grew to love and care for. Her positive outlook in life, no matter the situation, is what made her so special to those who knew her and she could always bring a smile to your face. We will miss this angel of God but we know she is exactly where she is meant to be.

Leslie is survived by her son John Scantland (Dawn), her daughter Charmaine Hof (John), Grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, Jennifer (Devin) and Alexander. Great Grandchildren, Austin, Levi, Carson, Hailey, Madilyn, Sawyer, Kaiden & Isabella. Sister Shelly Fraser (Dan), Dale Holland (Wendy), Sister-in-Law Amber Haynes and many, many relatives and in-laws.

Leslie is pre-deceased by her loving husband Roger, parents Ethel and Marsh Gregory, Roy and Marie Haynes and brother Leroy Haynes.

We want to send a heartfelt thank-you to the Unit 22 Team, doctors & specialists at the GPRH. We will never forget your kindness, compassion & never-ending determination.

Funeral will take place Monday February 13, 2023 @ 2pm at St. Josephs Catholic Church, with luncheon to follow provided by CWL in the Tranquille Hall. Interment will follow at a later date. The funeral will be streamed for those unable to attend who want to share in her celebration of life …

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity closest to your heart is what Leslie would say.

I knew Leslie mainly when we were working Cursillo together. I found her to be very grounded in her faith, a very caring and optimistic person. She loved her family, and was always there with a kind and reassuring word. So hard to say goodbye to someone in your family that you loved so much. My condolences.

I came to know and love Leslie through Cursillo and the CWL. Her devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ, and her loving spirit, generous heart and infectious laugh are what I do and will remember most clearly about her. Rest in peace, my dear friend. Lauri Friesen, Spruce Grove

We are so blessed to have known this wonderful woman. We got to know her so well over the years of her watching our fur baby Cleo. We were watching a tv show and Cleo would jump up and start looking around every once in a while. Well it turned out that the cell phone on the tv show had the same ring tone as Leslie's and she was looking around for her😊 I will miss her calling me up throughout the day to tell me something funny or sending pictures of her and Cleo playing. Leslie will always be in our hearts and thoughts. You will be missed greatly my friend❤️ -Love Candice, Mike and Cleo

Leslie was such a bright light in our lives; she was a person so full of life and joy, ever looking for the "bit of silliness" (and chocolate) to share and enjoy with friends. And she was a dog-sitter extraordinaire; staying at Leslie's place was like visiting dog Disneyland for our canine member of the family...Tita adored Leslie and Leslie doted on her and all her other four-legged charges with a devotion unparalleled. Leslie was someone who truly lived her faith. We will miss her so very much but will cherish our wonderful memories of our time with her. May flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest, Leslie. 💕 Lynda Witham, Dave Heatherington and Tita 🐾

Leslie (and Roger) took on an honorary role of grandparents to our kids and true support for Chad and I. As a Godmother she truly was Christ's love for Talia. We are so blessed to have had her in our lives. I am also grateful for all the "trouble" or impish fun that always surrounded Leslie and I whenever we got together. She is truly light, love, joy and is always in our hearts. We hold all of you in our hearts and know we have a special place for all Leslie's family...always. xoxo Chad, Linda, Talia, Nicolas, Sam and Caroline MacPhee
