Obituary For Marjorie Lynn Roszell
In loving memory of Marjorie Lynn Roszell (Sims) who left us before her time on August 15th, 2023.
Marj was born February 28, 1961, in Grande Prairie, Alberta and grew up just 6 miles north in Clairmont with her 6 siblings and years later half brother Randy joining the family. Marj attended Harry Balfour school till grade six then finished her education at Sexsmith Secondary School.
Nothing made Marj happier than enjoying great friends and fun times, from sharing and competing in the Army and Navy events, to the challenge of the Phantoms baseball team, to cheering till you just can’t speak any more at the Rednecks hockey play-offs in Valleyview.
Marj’s many loves through the years were Elvis Presley and she had the collection to prove it, as well as were her beloved furry friends, also Richard her then husband and their true love of their life born May 11th, 1992 was their son Joseph Arther Roszell. With Marj it was the little things that mattered, like the extra TLC she displayed when organizing the many family events for Ricky, Candy, Carly and Joe through the years as she cared for them so dearly.
Staying close to her birthplace she started in the work world at Grande Prairie’s original A&W Drive-In when carhops still existed. Marj’s next 6 years was found mentored by who would come to be her long-time friend and father figure, Roy Speed at the G.P. school board where her 4-legged companion Big George would faithfully escort her to and from.
Later Marj spent a few years each working at Final Touch Auto body and Wapiti Rd Esso before joining Pig (Sheldon Forbes) with the many tasks including raising pigs on their land near Teepee Creek.
Marj was survived by her son Joseph, stepchildren Rick Roszell, Candy and Carley Macaulay and siblings, John, Betti, Alice and Randy and their families and extended families.
She was predeceased by her parents Ralph (Sims) and Nora (Wiebe), sister Wendy Kish, brothers Jim and Joe Sims, Neil Macaulay and Sheldon Forbes.
Marj will be sadly missed by her son Joseph, brothers and sisters: John (Terry), Betti, Alice and Randy (Stacey), and stepmom Lita Sims.
Friends are encouraged to join the family for refreshments on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the service (Bear Creek Funeral Home, 11802 99 Avenue Grande Prairie, Alberta) to share stories and laughter in memory of Marj’s more memorable moments.
