Obituary For Marjorie Patricia Desroches
It is with broken hearts that the family of Marjorie Patricia Desroches announces her passing on June 11, 2021 in Grande Prairie, Alberta at the age of 80 years.
Marjorie was born in Radway, Alberta on May 14, 1941 to George and Helen Gordey. Marjorie married Paul Desroches and in 1967 their daughter Shelley was born. She worked at the Penetanguishene General Hospital (Ontario) as a Unit Clerk for many years until she moved back to Alberta in November of 1985 to be closer to her family. In Alberta, she began working for Service Canada and worked there for the next 20 years until she retired. Marjorie met Alf Johansen and stayed with him until his passing in 2018.
She was a devoted Grandmother, her grandchildren Sydney and Dayten were her world, she loved to joke around and laugh. She was a strong, independent, and very sassy lady. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, shopping, watching TV (Judge Judy), loved cooking/baking, loved her garden, and her dog Teco. Marjorie loved spending time with her family and never missed a birthday or anniversary. She was the protector of the family, always needing to know we were home safe and wanting to help or support her family in any way she could.
In 2019, her family took her on a trip to Mexico where they convinced her to get her first tattoo, a lady bug for luck. She had the time of her life on that trip.
Marjorie will be missed by her daughter Shelley Boyce (Sean), granddaughter Sydney Boyce, grandson Dayten Boyce, brother Ted Gordey (Corella) as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her ex-husband Paul Desroches, her common-law spouse Alf Johansen, her parents George and Helen Gordey, her brother Paul Gordey as well as her sister Elizabeth Olson.
A gathering of friends and family in Marjorie’s memory will be announced at a later date.

Hello Shelly, Sean, Sydney, Dayten, Ted and Corella: I just want to say that your Mom/Marge was always more than a friend to me, and to our family. Marge and I had many great talks over the years and she had a special way of letting you know that everything was going to be alright. I will always miss her. Her stories about how bossy Teco was always made me laugh. Now, please hold on to each other and squeeeeze (that's a hug from me). My heart and prayers are with you all. Klara Johansen
My sincerest condolences to Shelley, Sean, Dayton, Sydney and Ted. Marj was not just my sister in law. She was my friend. I will miss our long talks and our discussions over The Young and the Restless. She was so kind and caring and always made me laugh. She gave our brother Alf the best years of his life and I will always remember that. Rest in Peace my sweet angel. You will always be in my ❤ Sonja Johansen
Marge you were the love of Alf's life and he always adored you. I wish we were able to have more time together as we were planning another trip out west to see you when this pandemic was over. We have had many talks about so many things and laughs when we found that we had so much in common and were so much alike. You will be missed my friend and you will always be my sister-in-law. We love you. Trudy & Glen Chase
