Obituary For Moo Hing Mark

March 27, 1935 – July 3, 2023

Moo Hing Mark passed away peacefully at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital on July 3, 2023, at the age of 88 years.

Moo Hing was an avid cook. She, along with her husband Yook Lang, owned the Silver Palace Restaurant in Fort St. John, BC, for many years. Moo Hing enjoyed having a variety of plants in her home, which grew heartily because of she had a green thumb and could grow anything. When she wasn’t tending to her plants, she loved to binge-watch Chinese television, especially during Chinese New Year. Her grandchildren were a great source of love for her, and she would always have a stock of fruit and treats ready for their visits.

Moo Hing is survived by her sister, Marian Jue, her children Victor (Dori), Jean, Marian, and Peter (Tracey), as well as her grandchildren Stephen, Courtney (Jackson), Mei Lei, and Jai Lin, and her great-grandchildren Kaia and Sloan.

Moo Hing was predeceased by her father, Chan Mang Wing; mother, Ng Chung Hey Chen; and husband, Yook Lang.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Bear Creek Funeral Home. Moo Hing’s interment will follow at the City of Grande Prairie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Moo Hing’s name to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation or to the Canadian Red Cross.

Our sympathy to all of Hing's family, especially Marian (former colleague of Paul's). We met Hing briefly on one of our visits to Louise Sutherland but over the years heard from Louise of their friendship and shared meals. Paul and Myrna Lemay

I will certainly miss living across the hall from Hing. She was such a delight to chat with and loved seeing my grand daughters when they came to visit me. I was the lucky recipient of one of her plants.

To all of Hing's family, we are so sorry for your loss. She was a lovely person & we enjoyed visiting with her over the years. We were the lucky recipients of her filled buns on several occasions. She loved to tease & be teased & we are blessed to have known her.
