Obituary For Todd Jeffrey Zahorodniuk

With shock and disbelief, we announce the passing of Todd Zahorodniuk, 57 years old on Friday April 22, 2022. He passed away at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, AB, due to complications after surgery. Bailey, Mathew and Michelle were by Todd’s side when he received his wings and moved on to run the best pub heaven will ever see.

Todd was born August 14, 1964, in Dawson Creek BC. The family moved to Penticton where he did his schooling and excelled in many sports. He moved to Calgary after graduation and attended SAIT where he ultimately found his passion for the hospitality industry.

In 1991, he moved to Grande Prairie and started working at the Crown and Anchor and settled into his lifelong dream of owning his own pub in 1999 – The Lions Den - and the rest is history.

He is survived by the love of his life and soulmate, Michelle Walton, his children Bailey (Alton) of Kamloops BC and Mathew of Grande Prairie AB, Courtney and Emma of Grande Prairie AB, his parents John and Myrna of Osoyoos BC, his brother Patrick (Ellen) of Calgary AB and his sister Sandra Haugland (Ken Lyon) of Grande Prairie AB. His nieces Mandy Stuart (Curtis) of Grande Prairie AB and Robyn Wall (Brad) of Edmonton AB. His great niece, Laikyn Stuart and soon to be Baby Wall. He will also be lovingly remembered by his Lions Den Pub family, which includes the staff and many great regulars that will dearly miss their friend.

Celebration of life will be on Friday, April 29, at 5:00pm at the Bonnetts Energy Centre.

I knew Todd from High School in Penticton and always considered him a quality person. Many years later we connected on a houseboat trip on Shuswap Lake, and I had the pleasure of cooking with him and seeing him in his natural element: feeding the masses and simply enjoying being around people. My thoughts are with Todd's friends and family. Pat Perkins

I will never forget you Todd, I remember when me and my sisters were throwing my parents a 25th wedding anniversary, and you offered to supply all the liquor for the event, along with the servers required. You were a friend of mine and my family's till the end. Rest in peace Todd.
