Obituary For Tyson Boyd Cornish

November 26, 1978 – October 25, 2023

In loving memory of Tyson Boyd Cornish, age 44 years.

Tyson was born in 1978 to David Cornish and Judy Foley-Cornish at the Queen Elizabeth 11 Hospital in Grande Prairie, Alberta, becoming the youngest of four children. Tyson moved around frequently throughout his childhood but Sexsmith was the place he always considered home, finishing High School at Sexsmith Secondary school in 1997. The following year in 1998, after growing up together, Tyson began his journey of life with the love of his life, Jennifer Doucet. Together they welcomed daughter Jordan on October 3rd, 2000 and daughter Alexis on March 15th, 2002.

In 2002 Tyson began pursuing his career in electrical, and was hired by Flint Energy Services. In 2012 he completed his certification and became a Journeyman Electrician with Flint. After 20 years there, he joined the International Paper family in 2022 where he was welcomed with open arms as he had worked in the mill his whole career.

Tyson loved being with friends and family. He loved camping, quadding and watching his favourite hockey team, the Edmonton Oilers and football team, the Seattle Seahawks. Tyson packed so much life into his 44 years, touching all of our hearts in the process.

Tyson is survived by the love of his life, Jennifer Doucet, daughters Jordan Cornish and Alexis Cornish (Kaden), mother Judy Foley-Cornish, sister Michelle Wheeler (Wayne), niece Zoey, Tracy Kube (Jason), brother Faron Cornish, nephew Tyrell. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Nikki Doucet, (Devin), nephews Van and Miller, mother-in-law Wendy Doucet, father-in-law Gerry Doucet, (Dar),as well as the many additional family and friends who dearly love Tyson.

He is predeceased by his father David Cornish, brother Jason Cornish, maternal grandparents Marie “Elizabeth” and Michael Foley, and his paternal grandparents Bodil and Paul Cornish.

A Celebration of Life with a funeral prayer for Tyson will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 3:30pm at the Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre, 11633 100 Street, Grande Prairie.
