Obituary For Vanessa Renée

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vanessa in Grande Prairie, Alberta at the age of 49 years. Vanessa was always known for giving more than she ever asked for in return. Whether it be love advice, financial or a kick in the butt when it was needed. She loved to travel and looking after her family was always a priority. Vanessa recently completed her Social Service Worker course with honors. With the successful completion of this course, she was looking to work with troubled youth and give back where she could. We will all miss her ‘keep it simple’, carefree attitude. Vanessa is survived by her mother Elizabeth, her brother Daryn, her spouse Curtis Smith, her children Cory, Jerrica, Chantal, Brett and Taylor, her granddaughters Emilia, Kylee, Olivia, Harlow and Aurora, her grandsons Vincent, Nixon as well as countless other relatives. She will be welcomed into Heaven gracefully by her first husband John, her son Brandon and her father Ernie. A celebration of Vanessa’s life will take place on Saturday, January 14th, 2022 at Bear Creek Funeral Home (11802 99 Avenue in Grande Prairie, Alberta) at 1pm. A livestream of Vanessa’s celebration of life will be available on this page. Care entrusted to Bear Creek Funeral Home 780-830-7742 bearcreekfuneral.com

I met Vanessa as a young mom raising her family next door. The first time I met her of course it was through her children. Jerrica & Chantelle would frequently visit and of course mom would come looking for them. I thought she was such a beautiful girl and she had a big job raising 5 kids, and raise them she did, with so much love. We moved away and lost our connection. Years later we reconnected and I was amazed with what Vanessa had endured. I was so proud of her for wanting something more when she got her certification for Social Worker. She was happy again, in love, loving her children and grand babies. She was content, she did what she had to do. God bless you Vanessa, now you'll be managing from above, making sure every little thing is ok. Thank you for your friendship, until we meet again.🌺🌺

I miss her like crazy already. She was one of my best friend. She was never judgemental and always understood me for me. I'm going to miss our two three hour telephone conversations. She was the best wife mother and friend anyone could ask for. ♥️ May Vanessa rest in pure light. She changed so many of our lives for the better, and we will treasure her memory always. I have no idea what you must be going through in losing what I think is one of the most important compasses in your life. I know your mom/wife was that to you and with this loss comes so many layers of heartache. Please know my heart is open to giving you anything you might need during this time of incredible loss. Your mom was such a lovely woman. I often think about all the times we spent together and all the amazing meals your mom cooked. She was such a pleasure to have around. I have learned so much from her and will remember her always. I love you all and am truly sorry for your loss. Blessed be my sweet angel who recently received her wing. You were an angel before you passed but now you have your wings beautiful lady. Until we meet again love you with all my heart. ♥️
