Obituary For Wayne Stanley Glaab

April 9, 1950 - November 12, 2022It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of our Dad, Wayne Glaab’s passing at 72 years of age. He fought a noble fight and was surrounded by his children and grandchildren, as he peacefully left this world, and began his journey to his eternal resting place.Wayne was born in Welland, Ontario, to Francis and Stanley Glaab. Wayne was the youngest of their three children. Growing up in Welland Wayne attended St. Kevin’s and Notre Dame College School. When he left high school Wayne headed west to further his education at Notre Dame University/ College in Nelson British Columbia and eventually made his way to the University of Lethbridge. While attending Notre Dame University/ College he achieved a Degree in Sociology. Wayne began his studies toward a teaching degree at the University of Lethbridge. Wayne had a lifelong passion for studying war and history. This was a topic that was guaranteed to come up at all family get-togethers and celebrations. This passion was shared with his grandson Brett. His love of history was sparked by and through the stories, he would hear about the war from his father and Uncle Kenny Knisley. Both were World War II Veterans. There was guaranteed to be a spot in the family home where memorabilia and war games would and could be seen displayed. Wayne held down a variety of different jobs throughout his years. He was a highly multi-skilled individual. Some notable workplaces are Nelson Homes in Lethbridge AB, Standoff Elementary School on the Kainai Reserve in Southern Alberta, Napi Lodge Treatment Centre in Lethbridge AB, University of Lethbridge Maintenance Department, Renfrew Recovery Centre in Calgary AB, and from Calgary he moved the whole family to Grande Prairie where he worked for AADAC (Northern Addictions center), and lastly, he spent his later days working a variety of departments at Walmart.While living in Grande Prairie Wayne was a member of the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre, a location and organization that his family still is very actively involved with today. While in Lethbridge Wayne and Loretta met and built their family. Wayne and Loretta have five beautiful children and currently have 22 amazing grandchildren. Wayne is survived by his five children; Omarla, Benjamin (Bambi), Jermiah (Shanna), Aaron, and Joel (Randi-Lee) as well as his 22 grandchildren; Brailon (Mando), Mackenzie (Gavin), Kirk, Aliya, Carson, Brett, Julius, Harley, J.J, Kenny, Brennan, Modeste, Cooper, Chloe, Isaiah, Sophie-Marie, Myles, Jimi, Zachara, Beau, Kaecea, Xavier. Mother-in-law, Louise EnglishBrother Paul (Joy) Glaab, Sister Carolyn (Terry) Hughes; Aunt, Sharon Tupper. Brother-in-law and sisters-in-law; Betty Smith, Patsy English, Wendy English, Homer (Sally) English, Virginia English, Ruby (James) Medicine Crane, Frank English, Terry-Anne English, Delores English, Brian English, Marvin English. Nieces and Nephews; Terry (Rita) Glaab, Sandra (Neville) Spillman, David (Victoria) Hughes, Kevin (Les) Hughes. Numerous Nieces and Nephews from the English family. The family there to greet Wayne at the gates of Heaven; his parents Stanley and Francis Glaab, Uncle Kenny Knisley, Aunt Teresa Knisley, Aunt Edna Knisley, Son in Law Darren Cooke, Daughter in law Delaine Lambert-English, Father-in-Law; Omer English, Julius English, brother-in-law, Charles and George English, Louis Smith, sister-in-law Faye English, as well as nieces and nephews. Eager to see his loving human again, we imagine Teddy ran up to him with his tail wagging. There will be a public viewing on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. at the Bear Creek Funeral Home 11802 99 Avenue Grande Prairie.On Saturday, November 19th, 2022, family and friends will gather together at St. Joseph Catholic Church10404 102 Street Grande Prairie, at 10:30 a.m. for a Celebration of Life. All are welcome to both if they so wish.In place of donations, the family asks to donate to the Canadian Cancer Society 325 Manning Rd NE Calgary AB T2E 2P5, in memory of Wayne Glaab.     Omarla,Jeremiah,Aaron,Joel and families,Les and I send you all our deepest sympathies of the loss of your Father (Grandfather).... he was a wonderful man who always had others well being in mind.His kidding around was always present,whether it was driving Mom crazy by tying my socks up in a knot ,or the ever popular Deflabilator,his humour and prescence will be greatly missed .     I worked with Wayne for 10 years.Mostly in the garden centre.He made me laugh always cracking jokes biggest smile ever.I always looked forward to seeing him when I came to work.He made my day.Always had something to say to me to make my day go by smoothly.I'm going to miss you Wayne soo very much will not be the same anymore without you.Until we meet again Wayne 😥
