March 4, 1925 – January 18, 2019

On January 18, 2019, our mother and grandmother Gloria McKie, was called home to be with our Lord at the age of 93 years.  She is loved and will be missed by all.

Gloria was born in Toronto on March 4, 1925.  She had one brother and three sisters.  Her husband was in the Navy and after getting married in 1943, Gloria lived with her parents until Gordon was discharged,  and then they moved to Edmonton.  They resided there until 1954 when they moved to Grande Prairie and lived there until Gordon passed away in 1974. Soon after, Gloria moved back to Edmonton.

Gloria was employed at the University of Alberta for 11 years.  She took early retirement and remained in Edmonton until 2006 at which time she returned to Grande Prairie, residing at the Pioneer Lodge.  Due to health issues, she moved into The Grande Prairie Care Center where she remained until her passing.

Gloria was a loving, caring mother to five children:  Shirley, Gordon, Donald, Stuart and Barbara; a grandmother to seven grandchildren and a great grandmother to eleven.  She was a gentle soul who dearly loved her family.

Gloria is survived by one son, Donald (Ann) of Edmonton and two daughters, Shirley (Arnold) of Clairmont and Barbara (Ian) of Grande Prairie.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Gloria was predeceased by her parents, her husband, three sisters and one brother, and two sons and one grandchild.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial service was held on January 21, 2019.  Interment will be announced at a later date.

The family wishes to thank everyone for the floral arrangements, food and attendance by all, also the hymns and kind words led by Paul Balisky.  Thank you to all of the church members and a special thank you to the staff of Bear Creek Funeral Home.
